Harvest Home Care and The Village Senior Residence are proud to sponsor Missoula’s first-its-kind Elder Speed Dating event for adults age 60-to-90 at The Silk Road restaurant.

Eight couples participated in the first event October 27 and were featured on KPAX news. Click here to watch.

“We talk about love, young love, all our movies are about it, so rarely do you really talk or hear about our elders and their need for love, their need to connect.  Even if it’s just friendship,” event organizer Kaley Burke, director of Harvest Home Care of Missoula, told KPAX.

“You never know who you’re going to meet.  It could be the next love of your life, it could be your next soul mate,” said participant Judy Allen.

Follow-up speed dating events are being scheduled beginning December 2015. The cost is $15 per ticket and includes a reception with drinks and hors d’oeuvres. Advance registration is required, email Kaley Burke (kburke@harvesthomecare.net) to register.

Inspired by the documentary film Age of Love, elder or “senior” speed dating celebrates the power of love to break down ageist stereotypes and recognize that older singles desire to be seen, understood and have access to love and companionship.

Speed dating is a structured event that gathers a group of singles (10 women and 10 men) and pairs them with one-another in a series of five-minute mini-dates. Participants track their interest in potential partners on a scorecard that is submitted to the organizer after the event. No contact information is exchanged but if the scorecard indicates mutual interest between two singles they are each notified by mail and encouraged to follow-up on their own.
